American Consultants is looking for a permanent ED Nurse Manager for a facility outside of Ottumwa, IA.

The Emergency Room Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource management. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with administrative and supervisory duties to lead a team of ER nurses and support staff.

*Key Responsibilities:*

* *Operational Leadership:*
* Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the emergency nursing staff.
* Ensure optimal staffing levels and appropriate nurse-patient ratios.
* Monitor patient flow and department throughput to reduce wait times and enhance care efficiency.
* *Clinical Oversight:*
* Promote evidence-based practice and uphold clinical standards of care.
* Act as a clinical resource and role model for ER nursing staff.
* Respond to emergency situations and support complex clinical decision-making.
* *Staff Management:*
* Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing and support staff.
* Schedule shifts, approve time off, and manage call-outs or staff shortages.
* Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions when needed.
* *Quality & Compliance:*
* Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
* Monitor quality metrics such as patient satisfaction, infection control, and adverse event reporting.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills.
* *Budget & Resource Management:*
* Collaborate with finance and leadership to manage department budgets.
* Ensure appropriate supply levels and equipment maintenance.
* *Interdepartmental Collaboration:*
* Liaise with physicians, hospital leadership, and other departments to coordinate care and support hospital-wide initiatives.
* Participate in hospital committees and leadership meetings.

*Qualifications:*

* *Education:*
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
* Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
* *Licensure:*
* Current RN license in [State].
* BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required. TNCC preferred.
* *Experience:*
* Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing.
* At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
* *Skills & Competencies:*
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and lead effectively in high-stress environments.
* Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, triage, and trauma care.
* Proficiency in EMR systems and hospital operations software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
