Job Description

A Recreational Therapist is responsible for delivering therapeutic recreation programs that promote the emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being of patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in recreational therapy, preferably in behavioral health.
  • Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required.
  • Additional certifications in modalities like music, art, or adventure therapy are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health treatments, including trauma-informed care.

    • Responsibilities include implementing structured therapy activities such as art, music, movement, mindfulness, and social skills; conducting individual and group sessions; collaborating with clinical team members; and monitoring patient progress to optimize outcomes.
