The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities for youth, promoting healthy leisure, social skills, and growth.

Develops and delivers programs including arts, sports, drama, and community trips aligned with treatment goals.

Supervises facilities to ensure safety and performs maintenance tasks.

Assists youth through role modeling, skill development, and positive engagement.

Documents progress, participates in treatment team meetings, and supports special events.

Supervises recreational activities for up to three youth and completes reports.

Must have a relevant bachelor’s degree, youth recreation experience, CPR certification, and a valid NYS driver’s license.

Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills are essential.
