VHS is actively recruiting experienced physicians for an exciting locum opportunity in Houston, TX. This position offers the chance to provide essential health assessments and contribute to veterans’ well-being without the demands of traditional treatment responsibilities.

In this role, you will perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. The position is PRN, offering flexibility with options for half-day or full-day engagements, and is ideal for providers with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields, especially those experienced with compensation and pension evaluations.

Key skills for success include strong interpersonal and interview skills, physical assessment proficiency, attention to detail, ability to follow protocols, and efficient report documentation. The role requires providers to have their own office space, and local candidates are preferred.

Preferred qualifications encompass a medical license in good standing for Texas, relevant experience in general medicine or veteran assessments, and familiarity with administrative follow-up documentation. No prescribing or treatment responsibilities are involved, and certification requirements include credentialing and onboarding, which will be handled quickly.
