Job Description

The Voice & Swallowing Specialist provides evaluations and therapy for patients with voice, swallowing, breathing, and head & neck cancer disorders, including post-surgical care for laryngectomy patients.

Essential duties include performing endoscopic (rigid and flexible) FEES procedures, acoustic analyses, and establishing treatment plans. They work seated for therapy, document notes in EMR, and communicate clearly with patients and team members.

Qualifications include a Master’s or Ph.D. in Speech Language Pathology, certification (ASHA), licensure in NC, and experience in voice & swallowing.

Physical demands involve standing for extended periods, manual dexterity, and ability to lift up to 20 lbs. The role requires proficiency in EMR systems, computer analysis, and patient care.

Training lasts 3 months, gradually building a caseload. The position may be full or part-time, with on-site work and occasional travel between locations.

Core competencies include customer service, communication, initiative, decision-making, ethics, and teamwork. The daily schedule involves patient evaluations, therapy, documentation, and collaboration with medical staff.
