About the Position

LocumJobsOnline is working with Lancesoft Inc to find a qualified Podiatry – Surgery MD in Minnesota!

Seeking an experienced Hospital-Based Surgical Podiatrist for a locum opportunity covering two hospitals and an affiliated clinic in Minnesota. This is a balanced inpatient/outpatient role with strong surgical volume and wound care focus.

🏥 Practice Setting

  • Coverage across two hospitals and one connected clinic

  • Mix of inpatient hospitalist-style coverage and outpatient post-op clinic

  • Will review daily consults to determine hospital assignment

  • May start at one hospital and follow post-op patients at another the next day

This is primarily a hospital-based surgical podiatry role, with clinic time incorporated weekly.

📅 Schedule

  • 0.9 FTE (36 hours/week) + call

  • Monday: 8:30a – 3:30p

  • Tuesday: 8:30a – 3:30p

  • Wednesday: 8:30a – 4:30p (½ clinic, ½ hospital)

  • Thursday: 8:30a – 3:30p

  • Friday: 8:30a – 3:30p

  • One weekday night call (Mon–Thurs)

  • No weekend call

  • 30-minute lunch built into each day

Minimum commitment: 1 week per month (preference for providers able to cover more; open to splitting coverage between two providers).

🩺 Clinical Responsibilities

Inpatient (Primary Focus)

  • Respond to consults

  • Perform emergent and urgent surgical procedures

  • Post-operative rounding

  • Manage 5–10 hospital patients per day

Outpatient

  • One 4-hour post-op clinic per week

  • ~12 patients per day in clinic

Call

  • One weekday night call per week

  • Most calls triaged by clinic nurse during daytime

  • After-hours consults typically held until next day unless urgent

  • Rarely required to come in overnight

  • Hospitalists

  • Vascular Surgery

  • Infectious Disease

  • Orthopedics

  • Wound Care Nurses

Clinic support includes:

  • Rooming staff

  • Surgery schedulers

  • X-ray techs

  • Nurse triage

🦶 Required Experience & Certifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible through:

    • American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery (ABFAS), or

    • American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM)

  • Strong surgical experience required

  • Wound care experience preferred

  • BLS required

  • ATLS required

  • Active Minnesota license or active IMLC letter required

Flu vaccination required (religious and medical exemptions accepted).

  • Comfortable managing consults and urgent/emergent surgical cases

  • Strong wound care background

  • Efficient in Epic

  • Able to independently manage inpatient rounding
