Job Description

We are seeking a full-time In-Patient Nurse Manager for a critical access hospital in Iowa to oversee daily operations of the med/surg and swing bed departments, managing higher acuity patients at times.


  • Supervise nursing staff, provide guidance, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including workers’ compensation laws.
  • Oversee patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes in a Level II trauma setting.
  • Manage implementation of Athenahealth software for documentation and data management.
  • Conduct staff training on critical care and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans based on DRG guidelines.
  • Facilitate communication among patients, families, and healthcare providers.

    • Ideal candidates will have experience in critical care, pediatric nursing, and familiarity with procedures like spinal taps and catheter care. Strong leadership, communication skills, and knowledge of healthcare systems are essential. The position offers a salary range of $90,000 to $115,000 per year and involves on-the-road work.
