*Overview*
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an ObGyn Hospitalist Physician working 10 hour shifts from 9 pm to 7 am. Minimum of 3 shifts per month with option for more if desired.
This job is a 1099 position, and each physician must carry their own medical malpractice and tail insurance, with limits of 200/600 per occurrence. Currently this job is geared to physicians who want to decrease private OB coverage or stop it but not stop all Ob practice OR who are looking to do clinic work only but don’t want to give up Ob practice completely.
We are open to negotiating a position that would provide medmal in exchange for a position with 10-12 shifts per month (ie, become full time hospitalist with us).
The L&D unit has close to 100 deliveries a month. The nursery is Level 2; the gestational age cut-off is 32 weeks. For very high risk but stable patients or patients before 32 weeks, transfer services to UTMB John Sealy (level 3) are available.
While working, the physician is responsible for:
* admit and/or manage all L&D and postpartum patients
* evaluate L&D triage patients
* respond to ED or floor consults,
* consider requested transfers
* place discharge orders, summary notes, and any required medications requirements for patients anticipated to go home the next day.
The EMR is Epic.
A service for surgical assistance (c-sections, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsions, etc.) is available at all times.
*Requirements*
* Medical degree from an accredited institution with board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ObGyn)
* Valid medical license to practice in Texas
* Proven experience in inpatient obstetrics and gynecology within a hospital setting;
Pay: $190.00 – $235.00 per hour
