Recreation Therapist – Fort Riley, Kansas

Job Description

The Recreation Therapist role involves planning and executing adaptive sports, recreational, and leisure activities to support Soldiers’ physical, emotional, social, family, career, and spiritual well-being.

Responsibilities include developing individualized programs based on assessments, coordinating events and off-site trips, tracking participant data, and ensuring activities meet therapeutic goals aligned with medical plans.

Candidate will conduct site visits, prepare checklists, manage equipment maintenance, and collaborate with various organizations such as VA, military, and community groups. They will provide recreation therapy, evaluate progress, and serve as a liaison for programs and community reintegration.

Qualifications require a NCTRC certification, a bachelor’s degree, and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with preferred experience in working with individuals with disabilities, PTSD, or TBI. The position is full-time, based at Fort Riley, KS, with a starting salary from $55,000/year, and involves in-person work and relocation.
