Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues in a detox facility. Your role will involve conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to help clients on their journey to recovery.

Responsibilities:
– Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the severity and nature of substance abuse issues
– Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals
– Provide counseling and support to clients through individual sessions, group therapy, and family therapy
– Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI)
– Monitor client progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as necessary
– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for clients
– Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
– Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in the field of substance abuse treatment

Requirements:
– Associates, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, or related field
– Certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., LSAA, LADAC)
– Proven experience providing counseling or therapy in a substance abuse setting
– Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and interventions
– Familiarity with group therapy dynamics and facilitation skills
– Understanding of co-occurring disorders such as PTSD and the ability to provide appropriate care
– Strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
– Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a hospital or clinical setting
– Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality and patient care
