Job Description

The Licensed Mental Health Professional will be a key member of an innovative Safe Options Support (SOS) team, providing comprehensive care to street homeless or subway-dwelling individuals in the community.


  • The multi-disciplinary team includes a leader, licensed clinicians, care managers, and peer specialists, utilizing evidence-based Critical Time Intervention.
  • The role involves street outreach, coordinating needs pre- and post-housing, enhancing daily living skills, offering supportive counseling, and advocating against discrimination and healthcare inequities.
  • Focus on member choice, harm reduction, non-coercion, flexibility, and person-centered care is essential.
  • Post-housing, the team supports participants for months to ensure stability and independence, requiring fieldwork, on-call hours, and flexible scheduling.

  • Minimum requirements include a master’s degree or higher in social work, mental health counseling, nursing, or psychology, with licensure or a plan to obtain it.
