Description 📝

We are seeking a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist for an ongoing locum opportunity in Bismarck, North Dakota, starting April 2026. This is a hospital-based role within a medical direction model, supported by experienced CRNAs and OR staff, using the EPIC EMR.

Job Responsibilities 💼

  • Provide general anesthesia care for pediatric through geriatric patients

  • Personally perform and manage regional anesthesia, labor & delivery, and cardiac cases

  • Supervise CRNAs in a 1:4 medical direction model

  • Perform common orthopedic regional blocks, including:

    • Adductor canal

    • Interscalene

    • Popliteal

    • Supraclavicular

  • Participate in call coverage as assigned

  • Document all care accurately in EPIC

Qualifications 🎓

  • Board Certified in Anesthesiology (Required)

  • Active North Dakota license or IMLC participation (Required)

  • Clean malpractice and background history (Required)

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (Required)

  • Availability (Required)

  • NPDB Self-Query report dated within 30 days of application (Required)

  • CV in chronological order starting from medical school with no gaps over 60 days without explanation

  • Three professional references

Working Hours ⏰

  • Coverage Requirement: Minimum One week (7 days) per month

  • Start Date: April 2026

  • Initial schedule includes 5–10 hour day shifts

  • Call coverage added once provider is familiar with the facility

  • Call Structure:

    • C1 (Restricted): In-house

      • 16 hours (weekdays)

      • 24 hours (weekends)

    • C2 (Unrestricted): Home call, primarily for emergent cardiac cases

    • Average callback: Rare for C2; C1 is in-house

Skills 🥼

  • Strong general anesthesiology skillset

  • Proficiency in regional anesthesia and orthopedic blocks

  • Comfortable managing cardiac and L&D cases

  • Experience supervising CRNAs in a medical direction model

  • Adaptability and effective communication in a team-based environment

Compensation 💵

  • $3,100 per 24-hour call shift

  • Travel: Covered

  • Lodging: Covered

  • Malpractice: Covered
