We are seeking an Ophthalmology Physician Assistant to join our well-established practice in Watertown and Ogdensburg NY.
*About the Role:*
As an Ophthalmology Physician Assistant, you will work alongside our experienced Ophthalmologists to deliver exceptional eye care to patients of all ages. Your role will involve performing patient evaluations, assisting in the diagnosis and management of various eye conditions, and providing pre- and post-operative care, you’ll have a direct impact on improving the quality of life for our community members.
No experience is necessary as we are happy to train the right candidate. Our current Physician Assistant has been practicing with us for over 5 years. We also have 3 Ophthalmologists and 1 Optometrist, all of whom will assist in providing you with the proper training to feel confident in your ability to triage, assess, manage patients, perform procedures, and assist in Ophthalmic surgeries. Pre and post-op appointments will be a part of managing patients, but this will not be the primary focus of your role.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including history and physical exams.
* Diagnose and treat common ocular conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
* Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, including surgical assistance.
* Interpret diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, and OCT’s.
* Educate patients about eye health, preventive care, and treatment options.
* Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers to deliver top-quality care.
*Qualifications:*
* Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA-C).
* Current NYS PA license or eligibility.
* Ophthalmology experience not required, but preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient-centered approach to care with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
